FLIGHT TRAINING

An art in itself - learning to control the flight of an aeroplane. Experiencing new heights and horizons, mastering the elements, enjoying the sense of power and achievement.

Air Gisborne will train you to whichever level you want to go - whether it be a trial flight, flying solo, commercial pilots licence, instrument rating, multi-engine rating or 'C' Cat instructor rating.

Flying Solo

To be able to fly solo you require the following:

• Be over 16 years or over.
• Hold a valid Class 2 Medical Certificate.
• Complete the required training schedule with ranges from 12+ hours (depends on the individual).
• Be considered safe by your instructor.

Private Pilot Licence

As a holder of a private pilot licence you can take your friends and family to any part of New Zealand that you desire.

Minimum requirements for sitting a flight test for a private pilot licence are:

• You must be 17 years or older.
• Hold a valid Class 2 Medical Certificate.
• Completed not less than 50 hours of flight experience which shall include not less than -
  15 hours dual instruction
  15 hours pilot in command
  5 hours of instrument training
  10 hours of cross country consisting of dual and solo
  5 hours advanced dual
• You must have passed written examinations in the following -
  Aviation Law and Publications
  Navigation
  Aricraft Technical Knowledge
  Meteorology
  Flight Radio Telephone
  Human Factors
• Be considered up to private pilot standard by your instructor.

Commercial Pilot Licence

Minimum requirements for sitting a flight test for a commercial pilot licence are:

• You must be 18 years or older.
• Hold a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate.
• Complete not less than 200 hours flight experience which shall include not less than -
  100 hours pilot in command
  30 hours cross country flight
  10 hours instrument flying
  10 hours night flying
• You must have passed written examinations in the following -
  Air Law
  Meteorology
  Principals of Flight
  Aircraft Technical Knowledge
  Air Navigation
  Human Factors

'C' Cat instructor rating
